“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed; in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1st Corinthians 15:51-52
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of Heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and did not realize until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two will be in the field: one is taken and the other is left. Two will be grinding at the mill: one is taken and the other is left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord comes. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief comes, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be dug through. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man comes at an hour you do not expect.” Matthew 24:36-44
How many people really understand that at some time, time itself is simply going to run out? Those who are Saved will go to be with the Lord, those who are not will be left behind on this earth. How many people sit on the fence in regards to Salvation? They realize that they need to change (repent) and believe into Jesus Christ, yet the cares of this world have so far overcome that necessity?
The other day I am with my son who suddenly looks right at me and says, “Dad, the Trumpet could go off right now, at this moment.” Though only four years old, I wish more people hand the same understanding. At any moment the Rapture could happen, the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jer. 30:7) could start and if you are without Christ, you will be left behind.
On the other hand, we do not know how much longer we shall live. There is no guarantee of another breath beyond the one you are breathing right now. Being apathetic about your soul is not a wise choice when the decision is eternal. There are numerous reasons that people hold to as to why they are not going to repent and believe, but for many simply not truly believing in Jesus, the necessity of Salvation, that they are a guilty sinner, that there is a Creator, that they will be held accountable are some of the many reasons.
Regardless of what is holding you back, dear reader, please understand that at any moment it could simply be too late! There will come a time when there simply is no more time left for you.
If you consider all of the effort that you put into living into this life on earth, the cares, the concerns, the plans, the relationships, goals, problems, etc., how much more thought should be put into your eternity?!
“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, prostitutes, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven has drawn near.” Matthew 4:17
“He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life on account of Me will find it.” Matthew 10:39
At what point are you really going to take time to consider these things? When will you understand that you are lost, in need of a Savior?
“For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2nd Corinthians 6:2
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
