“They do not know, nor do they understand; they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.”  Psalms 82:5

I spend quite a bit of time behind the wheel.  The other day I tuned into the local Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) radio station.  In no way is All Will Stand endorsing the SDA.

This particular day was apparently the last day of a thirteen day series about prophetic end times and as they were in the book of Daniel, in particular talking about Daniel chapter 9, I was quite interested in whether or not they had a biblical take on it.

“Seventy weeks are decreed regarding your people, and regarding your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.  Know, therefore, and understand that from the going forth of the word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks and sixty two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of distress.  And after sixty two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of a coming ruler shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end shall be with a flood, and desolations are determined, and there shall be war until the end.  And he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the grain offering to cease. And on a corner will be abominations that cause horror, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall be poured out on the desolate.”  Daniel 9:24-27

They had some sort of numbers about how 1844 was the year of fulfillment and that they were the true church and continued on discussing what should be known as speaking of the Antichrist.  If the odd number game wasn’t bad enough, it got much more out of context.

When you get towards the end of the above passage they took this portion, “And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and grain offering to cease.” they labeled that as pertaining to Jesus.  They then proceeded briefly on the notion that the middle of the week was a certain time period and Jesus’s return would be the end of the week.  This is far from what the Bible teaches.

“And so we also have a more sure Word of prophecy”… (2 Pet. 1:19a)

The world is setup for a literal disaster, due to rejecting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Though they name Him, they by and large do not know Him.

…” always learning, but never able to come to the full true knowledge of the truth.”  2 Timothy 3:7

“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have risen up, by which we know that it is the last hour.  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that not all of them are of us.  But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.”  1st John 2:18-20

The problem is this is not limited to the SDA but can be found throughout many different denominations.  Even in fundamental independent Baptist Churches, these things are often rarely spoke about or any serious details given.

Clearly our world has changed and is changing quickly and not in a good way.  If there was ever a time for true pastors to preach God’s Word faithfully, the time is now.  When most churches omit repentance (Ac. 17:30-31), it should be of no surprise that they also don’t seem to have a clue about biblical prophecy.

How many churches even know or ever preach anything about the Antichrist or Daniel chapter 9?  How many churches would also think that what is talking about the Antichrist is instead talking about Jesus?!

What Jesus spoke to Thyatira is so very important to all Churches out there that are diligently serving the Lord.

“But hold fast what you have till I come.”  Revelation 2:25

Amen!
