Culmination: Armageddon

“And I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.  His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.  And He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.  And the armies in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and pure, followed Him on white horses.  And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He might strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.  And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of the heavens, Come and gather together for the supper of the great God,  that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of commanders, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.  And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.   And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he led astray those who received the mark of the beast and those who did homage to his image. These two were cast alive into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone.  And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded out of the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.”  Revelation 19:11-21

 

Well afterwards, that is it, Jesus Himself will rule, we who are Saved will be with Him, coming back with Him for that battle (Zechariah 14:5).  How glorious of a time period, the restoration of how things should be (Revelation 21:4; Isaiah 11:3-16).

 

So to consider this culmination of the battle of Armageddon, let us take a look all the way back in the book of Genesis to the tower of Babel and see if we can glean a quick Bible lesson regarding the relating of these two events.  The one we could call the beginning of this oneness, the other (Armageddon) the culmination of such actions by sinful mankind, along with the Antichrist and the False Prophet. 

 

“Now the whole earth was of one language and one speech.  And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a level valley in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there.  Then they said to one another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them with burning. They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.  And they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, that we not be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.  And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.  And Jehovah said, Behold, the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they devise to do will be withheld from them.  Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they cannot understand one another’s speech.  So Jehovah scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.  Therefore its name is called Babel, because there Jehovah confused the language of all the earth; and from there Jehovah scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.”  Genesis 11:1-9

 

Just how many generations did it take for this unification that has happened and is continuing to happen around the world?  Unfortunately COVID provided a good opportunity for us to see how world leaders, with their respective countries, were able to pass a lot of the same rules/regulations around the globe.

 

We have had generations of people who have been influenced by particularly American music, movies and other culture (Revelation 17?). 

 

I recall about a decade ago being in Central America, with people who scarcely spoke a couple of broken English words, but would laugh and love watching American movies, despite no Spanish subtitles.  The same could be said with the fact that even a lot of our music is played around the globe.

 

Not that long ago, I was watching a show from Africa where a man was in a business and there was a music video with Miley Cyrus playing on a television.  The man stated he didn’t know who she was but she was good looking.  Around the globe these sinful things have blossomed, prepping the world for the culmination: Armageddon that will take place during the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7), better known as the Tribulation, at the leadership of the Antichrist and the kings of the earth.

 

The influence of the internet, modern culture, finances, global trade, global security, wars that greatly affect the potential future of many people, food insecurity, oil, energy, pestilences (Matthew 24:7), as well as even religions have played a major factor in shaping our globe to the point of apostasy of a world that has truly turned their back on God Almighty who sent His only Son to die on the Cross for our sins (John 3:16). 

 

You say and argue that these things are good, we are ‘eradicating poverty’, ‘fighting global warming’, ‘social justice’, freedom…freedom…liberty…liberty:

 

“For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through wantonness, the ones who have actually escaped from those living in error.  While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.”  2nd Peter 2:18-19

 

These same people, during that time period, will be ‘thinking’ again and this time they (see opening passage) are going to be assuming that they can now fight God Almighty, their VERY Creator. 

 

Their oneness will have become madness and their folly will become absolutely known to all.  For Christ will then immediately set things in order and put an immediate end to the rebels, the sons of disobedience, who finalized in their hearts the ultimate tower of Babel, for use against their enemy: God.

 

Considering where the world will be heading, and it certainly appears to be sooner than later, it should be no surprise the things that we are seeing happening now in the world.

 

I wonder, will the Russia/Ukraine war become more widespread and possibly have nuclear missiles flying somewhere around the globe or will the Israeli/Hamas war escalate to involve a much larger portion of the Middle East (Israel did call up reservist all over the world, including here in Rapid City, SD, so apparently preparing for a potential larger conflict). 

 

Oh, how I could see the EASY potential, if even needed, for the world to have a couple of nukes go off or some other MAJOR disaster that would cause the financial global instability, the house of cards that the world’s finances stand on, to finally give out, a freefall and absolutely disaster with possibly millions dead!???

 

Well, consider and this is just something to consider, could that be this:

 

“For when they say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall by no means escape.”  1st Thessalonians 5:3

 

Consider the Antichrist and his eventual control over all of the world (Revelation 13:5).  Now when the Rapture happens, the starting gun of the Tribulation has happened.  This means that the Antichrist is ‘unveiled’ (2 Thessalonians 2:8).  Certainly what God has spoken will come to pass, however it may come to pass (Isaiah 14:24), but I wonder, I ponder, knowing the instability of the world in which we now live, if something extreme happening out of these wars or possibility even another one (China vs. Taiwan???) could cause millions to die.

 

A lot do not think that could happen, but in all reality it was not that long ago that tens of millions of people died during World War II.  If such a thing occurred, would not the instability of the global finances (most are now instantly bankrupt, including countries), as well as the threat of more nuclear missiles going off (the world’s population could quickly be decimated into a nuclear winter), would that not be enough that people in their respective countries would give up enough of a portion of their sovereign rights just in order to have some sort of sense of normalcy return, screaming for peace and safety!?

 

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He is now restraining, until it is raised from out of the midst.”  2nd Thessalonians 2:7

 

We won’t know the details, it is a mystery that will not be revealed, until it is revealed, our duty remains the same:

 

“Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.  Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Truly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.  And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.  But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be dug through.  Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”  Luke 12:35-40
